What do I do if Firmware upgrade failed?

If your CD-ROM drives still function with the original Firmware, then it just meant you don't need upgrade at this time. If your CD-ROM drive became non-functional after Firmware upgrade, please return it back to your purchased place for check or repair.

I recorded data onto my RW disc using INCD, but I couldn’t read on other PCs?

If you want to read INCD on your computer, you need driver of UDF Reader program. It can support multi-read specification, and it can read format of INCD (UDF). So when you install the INCD, and the UDF reader will install your computer automatic. If you don’t install INCD to your computer yet, please insert the INCD into your CD-ROM/DVD-ROM drive, and UDF reader will install to your computer automatic from INCD disc.

Why can't the BIOS detect CD-ROM/CD-RW/ DVD-ROM drive?

1. Make sure if the DC power wire is connected to the power connector.
2. Make sure the cable connection to be in right direction and must be secured.
3. Make sure jumper settings at the rear side of your DVD-ROM drive to make sure there is no conflict with other peripheral devices. On an IDE cable, there is only one IDE device can be set as” master” and the other one as ”slave”.
4. Make sure your IDE settings in BIOS. The IDE port must be enabled to which your DVD-ROM drive is connected.

Will my blank disk affect burning result?

Yes, blank disk its reflexing rate and quality affect burning result. Especially on some disk with "wrong sections" anti-piracy technology, blank disk is the prime sector to decide burning success or failure. Most of the time, hi-quality disks have low error rate. So-called "Hi-quality" disks are made by good-willed manufacturers. Hi-quality disks are not 100% perfect since some manufacturers give over to OEM production. It is hard to control OEM quality. However, we still suggest you choosing hi-quality blank disks or those certified with CD-RW brand.

What are CAV and CLV?

CAV (Constant Angular Velocity) is a technology for accessing data off of rotating disks.. With CAV, the disk rotates at a constant speed regardless of what area of the disk is being accessed. This differs from CLV (Constant Linear Velocity), which rotates the disk faster for inner tracks. Disk drives use CAV, whereas CD-ROMs generally use CLV, though some newer drives use a combination of CAV and CLV. The advantage of CAV is that it is much simpler to design and produce because the motor doesn't need to change speed. In addition, CLV runs into problems for very high-speed CD-ROMs because there's a brief latency whenever the drive needs to change the rotational speed. CAV is extensively used on optical drives then CLV.

CLV (Constant Linear Velocity) , a method used by most older CD-ROM players to access data. With CLV, the rotation speed of the disk changes based on how close to the center of the disk the data is. For tracks near the center, the disk rotates faster, and for data on the outside, the disk rotates slower.
The purpose of CLV is to ensure a constant data rate regardless of where on the disk the data is being accessed. Because less data can fit on the inside tracks, the disk needs to rotate faster for these areas.

Can I play recorded audio disc on my home CD stereo?

Yes, but please pay attention on the followings:
1.Enable "Close session" before burning.
2.Not using low-quality discs.
3.Stereo must support CD-R & CD-RW format.

Does Artec CD-RW read 80 min or 8 cm disc?

Yes, all Artec model read 80 min and 8 cm discs.

Top

Can I install more than one burning software?

Suggest you only install one burning software or it will cause conflict. If you would like to install new burning software, you should better remove old one in advance.

Why BIOS can't detect my CD-Rom/CD-RW/DVD-Rom drive?

1. Check Jumper setting if it's conflicted with other devices.
2. Make sure IDE cable and power cable connect well.
3. Everything checked well and still not work, you should send to the original vendor for repair.

Why Nero hangs up when burning?

The problem is caused by source drive. When source drive reading speed can't catch up with CD-RW's burning speed, Nero will hang up. You must install Nero into harddisk to use.

Why my CD-RW shows "Power Calibration Error" message when burning?

There is a "PCA (Power Calibration Area)" in the inner circle of disk. About reading/burning speed data of the disk is built by disk maker. CD-RW drive will detect the data to know the speed to read/burn. "Power Calibration Error" means it may be the disk problem or drive problem. Try more disks, if it still not work, that's the drive problem, then you have to send to vendor for repair.

Should I enable DMA mode when using CD-RW? How?

Yes, only when DMA mode in enable status, IDE interface can transmit data in higher transfer rate. Setting it up in the CD-ROM device of “Device Manager”, enable “DMA” then restart the system. If DMA mode is not enable, the system would be automatically settled in PIO mode, e.g. the transfer rate of PIO mode 4 is 16.6MB/S which is half of DMA mode. It is very important for IDE and CD-RW to keep transferring smooth.

Windows 95/98/2000 can’t recognize my CD-RW, do I need to install the device driver?

It is not necessary to install the driver for CD-ROM or CD-RW under Windows OS which can recognize itself. It is a must that installing the driver under DOS and Windows 3.1. All drivers you can down load from our website. When OS recognition is a problem, please check by following steps:
1. Make sure if the power normal. You could push “eject button” to check if it ejects normally, if not, please check the power cable if it is connected well.
2. IDE cable is connected successfully. You can re-plug to check. (The Red line of cable should be near the power connector.)
3. Checking Jumper settled without any conflict with other devices.
If there is no any solution found after steps above executed, it might be your CD-ROM in trouble. We suggest you to contact your vendor or distributor for assistance.

Is there any special tool for emergency eject hole while CDRW can not eject normally and CD disc still inside? What should I do if tray in/out is failed?

While eject function is out, straighten a big clip then insert to emergency hole. The action will not make the device damaged. The site of emergency hole, please refer to “User’s manual.”. Insert a straighten clip to “Emergency eject” hole then push the tray out. Please refer to the Service Manual.

Should CD-RW be connected with hard disk or CDROM in one IDE cable?

In order to prevent slowing down HD’s performance, user should not connect CD-ROM with HD at the same IDE cable. The good way for user is connecting CD-ROM with IDE2 Master, CD-RW with IDE2 Slave.

Do all kinds of CD-R media support burning at speed 8X? What kind of CD-R Media makes it?

For sales purpose, there are many kinds of CD-R media are sold in low prices with bad quality which will reduce MTBF of CD-RW and increase defective rate of CD-R media. We suggest you to buy qualified and branded CD-R Media. There is a CD-R media list which passed 8X burning test and will be released in our website.

Why can’t I do Audio-CD burning at speed 8X?

There are several possibilities:
1.CD-ROM doesn’t has high-speed DAE ability (Digital Audio Extraction) at least 10X.
2.CD-R media doesn’t reach burning speed 8X.
3.Badly CD-R media quality.
4.UDMA mode is in disable status. (Please refer to Q2)

Why is the capacity of CD-R much reduced after “Direct CD” format?

“Direct CD” formats disk to UDF, which is “Packet Writing” format. UDF format separates each block to 32KB, so that CD-RW can write and delete in disk as a hard disk. It needs space around 10MB to record the location of blocks.

Why did I do the simulated burning successfully but failed in real burning?

The difference between simulated and real burning is the laser beam. Simulated burning only identify the source of data is normal or not and disk space but not for the power or compatibility of Pick-up Head and disks. Laser power decay and the compatibility problem of disk and CD-RW to cause the real burning failure, you may need to send it back for adjustment.
